Social media celebrity Bobrisky has announced plans to file an N1 billion lawsuit against activist VeryDarkMan, accusing him of defamation. The crossdresser took to Instagram on Sunday, September 29, to share details of the legal threat, which follows a controversial audio recording allegedly created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

In a letter dated September 27, Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, claims that VeryDarkMan, born Martins Otse, disseminated a recording in which she purportedly admitted to bribing officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million to drop charges against her.

Bobrisky’s legal team has issued a 24-hour ultimatum for VeryDarkMan to retract his statements and issue a public apology or face legal repercussions.

The controversy erupted on Tuesday when VeryDarkMan released the alleged audio, which discussed her relationship with her “godfather” and claimed that Haliru Nababa, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) controller general, arranged for her to serve a six-month prison sentence in a private apartment instead of a traditional jail.

In response to the allegations, Bobrisky labeled the recording as “fake,” insisting that she did not pay any bribes to the EFCC. This denial comes amid an invitation from the anti-graft agency for both her and VeryDarkMan to discuss the bribery claims.

Ola Olukoyede, chairman of the EFCC, has also ordered an immediate investigation into the allegations surrounding Bobrisky. Adding to the turmoil, the federal government has suspended two officials from the NCoS in connection with the ongoing bribery investigation.

In a troubling twist, Bobrisky recently revealed her struggle with suicidal thoughts, highlighting the emotional toll these allegations have taken on her.
