MAN, D2H Services partner on sustainable energy solutions

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria has partnered with D2H Services Ltd to launch a range of products aimed at transitioning its members to sustainable energy solutions.

MAN launched the products in Lagos recently, with partners including Huawei Technology Co. Ltd, D2H Services Ltd, known as bifacial solar panel technology experts, Huawei and the Manufacturers Power Development Company Ltd.

The Director General of MAN, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, highlighted the critical role energy plays in the manufacturing process, noting that energy costs constitute approximately 30-40 per cent of production expenses.

He emphasised the urgent need for Nigerian manufacturers to explore alternative, sustainable energy sources to remain competitive locally and globally.

“As manufacturers, we face several challenges, from escalating energy costs to environmental concerns that threaten our profitability. But these challenges also present opportunities for growth and innovation,” Ajayi-Kadir said.

“Nigeria is well-positioned to capitalise on the global shift towards sustainable energy with its abundant renewable resources.”

According to the MAN DG, the sustainable energy initiative was driven by MPDCL to support MAN members in adopting more efficient energy solutions through activities, including conducting energy audits, providing financing options for sustainable energy projects, offering technical training, and advocating for policies that promote energy adequacy in the manufacturing sector.

“The initiative is expected to help member companies reduce their energy costs by 5-10 per cent by 2026 and transition at least 20 companies to sustainable energy within the same period,” Ajayi-Kadir stated.

Technical Head of D2H Services Ltd, Rajesh Patel, introduced the bifacial solar panel technology to MAN members and explained the product allows electricity generation from both sides of the panel, increasing overall efficiency.

He noted that the panel was an innovative technology that would help manufacturers significantly cut energy expenses.

The Business Head of D2H Services Ltd, Pramod KC, provided insights into the company’s evolution since its establishment in 2016.

Pramod KC shared the company’s recent partnership with Huawei to provide Uninterruptible Power Supply solutions, further enhancing energy reliability for Nigerian manufacturers.

Further, the Board Chairman of MPDCL, Ibrahim Usman, reiterated the company’s commitment to bridging the energy gap in the manufacturing sector.

Usman said, “Our mission is to provide cost-effective, sustainable, and reliable power solutions to manufacturers, empowering them to compete globally while driving economic growth in Nigeria.”
