Kevin Martins, the son of former Nigeria international striker Obafemi Martins was yesterday handed his senior debut at Italian Serie A side Monza in their 3-1 win over Brescia in the Coppa Italia, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

With key players given a rest by coach Alessandro Nesta the 19 year old was picked to play from the start and he ended up playing the entire duration of the game, where he operated as a right winger.

It is the first step for the teenager who will be looking to follow in the footsteps of his father who had his breakthrough at Inter Milan in 2002 , and played there for four more years. He also made 42 senior appearances for Nigeria scoring 18 goals.

Kevin was birthed in 2005 when Martins was still playing at Inter Milan making him eligible for both Italy and Nigeria at senior level, and he has already represented Italy at U15.

He spent time at the academy of both Inter and AC Milan before moving to Monza in January 2023, where he has impressed Nesta with his performance for the youth side hence his senior debut.
