A disturbing case of alleged incest and defilement has rocked the Anozie Street community in Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

This is as a man identified as Chinedu, a father accused of serially raping his 14-year-old daughter, has fled his home to evade arrest by police detectives from Azikiwe Division.

Eyewitnesses revealed that Chinedu abandoned his residence before the police arrived, leaving behind his drinking bar, which was found locked up.

The victim’s ordeal came to light after she confided in a neighbor about her father’s abuse.

The concerned neighbour swiftly alerted the police, leading to the victim being taken to the Azikiwe Police Division at Illabouchi, Mile 2 Diobu, where the matter was reported.

According to sources, the teenage girl’s statement alleged that her father had been defiling her for two years.

It was gathered that the victim’s mother, Chinedu’s estranged wife, has taken the teenager to safety, ensuring her protection and well-being.

However, the National Coordinator of Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign, Prince Wiro, had appealed to residents with information on Chinedu’s whereabouts to come forward and assist the police in apprehending the suspect.

“The veracity of the allegation cannot be ascertained if the suspect is not available for investigation,” Wiro emphasized. “We urge anyone with information to contact the police immediately.”

The spokesperson for Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent of Police,SP Grace Iringe Koko was yet to respond to our enquiry on the incident by our reporter.

However, multiple Police sources confirmed the incident.

Residents expressed shock and outrage over the allegations, calling for swift action against the suspect.

“We are deeply disturbed by these allegations,” said a neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous. “We urge the police to do everything possible to bring Chinedu to justice.”
