'He scores goals' - Super Eagles star Victor Boniface returns with a bang

Bayer Leverkusen failed to hold on to their one-goal advantage as Werder Bremen fought back to earn a draw despite Victor Boniface getting his name on the scoresheet.

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface returned to Xabi Alonso’s side in style after getting involved in a ghastly accident last week following Leverkusen’s win against Frankfurt.

The striker was fortunate to have escaped the horrific incident with only minor injuries after his car crashed.

However, he returned to the team like he never left and scored the first goal in Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw, making it his fourth consecutive goal this season.

The 23-year-old Nigerian striker had missed the team's UEFA Champions League match against Brest due to precautionary measures following the incident, which left him with minor injuries but no serious harm.

Despite the traumatic experience, Boniface returned to action in Leverkusen's Bundesliga match against Werder Bremen. 

He scored his seventh goal of the season in eight matches across all competitions, tapping in from close range after a well-placed cross from Jeremie Frimpong. 

However, his effort was not enough to secure a win, as Leverkusen ultimately shared the spoils with Bremen after conceding a late equaliser.

Victor Boniface returned like he never left for Bayer Leverkusen.

Boniface's return is significant for Leverkusen as they aim to maintain their competitive edge in domestic and European competitions. 

Currently sitting third in the Bundesliga, five points behind leaders RB Leipzig, his scoring prowess will be crucial as the season progresses. 

Werder Bremen were not easy for Leverkusen to break down.

Coach Xabi Alonso praised Boniface's resilience, noting that he has quickly resumed his vital role within the team despite the recent challenges he faced.
