'You are crazy' — Messi rejects strange request from young fan

A viral video showed Lionel Messi rejecting a request from a young fan.

It could be his now advanced age or the weight off his shoulders since winning the World Cup; either way, Lionel Messi has cut a more relaxed figure since joining Major League Soccer. 

This is evident in some of his goal celebrations for Inter Miami, as the notoriously timid Messi shocked his fans when he mimicked Marvel superheroes. 

Unlike his eternal rival Cristiano, who is famous for coining multiple trademark celebrations, the Argentine throughout his career has been unglamorous. However, in his short Inter Miami spell, he has celebrated like Spiderman, Thor and even the Black Panther. 

Messi turns down young fan

Messi has shown more willingness for elaborate displays after scoring, but not enough to accept the request of one young fan, who seemed to have asked for too much from the former PSG ace. 

A video making the rounds on social media showed a young fan asking Messi to do a dance from a TikTok trend when he next scores, but the amused Albiceleste captain laughed it off, replying, “You are crazy.”

Messi was clad in Argentine attire in the video, suggesting that he was with the national team when the request was made of him. 

He scored a hat-trick against Bolivia during the break and another in his return to league action in the final game of the MLS season against the New England Revolution. On neither occasion did Messi perform this celebration, suggesting he found it too ridiculous even for his now more playful self.
