Anthony Edwards Makes NBA History with Record-Breaking Performances

Anthony Edwards is off to a brilliant start this season, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to back-to-back wins after losing their opener against the Los Angeles Lakers. Edwards has quickly made headlines with his outstanding performances, joining an elite group in NBA history.

The 23-year-old guard became only the third player to hit 5 or more three-pointers in each of the first three games of a season. The only other players to achieve this feat are NBA superstars Stephen Curry and Kemba Walker, according to StatMamba.

In addition to his historic three-point shooting, Edwards reached 7,000 career points with the Timberwolves, passing Kevin Love to move into fifth place on the team’s all-time scoring list. He also became the youngest player in NBA history to make 800 career three-pointers.

Through the first two games of the season, Edwards is putting up impressive numbers, averaging 29.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, while shooting 40.8% from the field and 35.7% from three-point range.

Edwards has credited lessons he learned from his time with Team USA, particularly from Stephen Curry. During Timberwolves media day, he shared how Curry’s off-ball movement impacted his game:

“The best thing I learned from Steph was playing without the ball. I’ve been cutting, moving, and getting easy shots just by staying active.”

As the Timberwolves push forward this season, Edwards’ historic start and growth as a player signal big things to come for both him and the franchise.
