Armed Men Abduct Passengers, Shoot DG Zamfara Community Guards

Armed men have reportedly shot the Director General of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG), General Lawal B. Muhammad (rtd).

The incident occurred on Sunday after the assailants barricaded the Funtua-Tsafe road, Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The armed men were said to have attacked motorists including the CPG’s DG before whisking away the passengers during the operation.

According to the report, the DG was receiving medical treatment at Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital.

The attack comes nearly six days after eight personnel of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards were ambushed and killed by armed men also in Tsafe LGA of the state.

The personnel were reportedly killed in an ambush at their checkpoint in the Tsafe.
