The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi has named Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba as its new substantive Vice-Chancellor.
Garba’s selection followed a rigorous process that began after the tenure of former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulaziz, ended.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of ATBU’s Governing Council, Air Commodore Emmanuel K. Jekada (retired), announced Garba’s appointment on Thursday, following the conclusion of the Council’s meeting in Bauchi.
Jekada explained that the Governing Council approved Garba’s appointment after a detailed selection process that started in February.
He said the process included advertising the position, screening applicants, and conducting thorough interviews.
According to him, Garba emerged as the top candidate, surpassing two other finalists for the prestigious role.
He encouraged the new Vice-Chancellor to strive for excellence and advance the University to new heights.
