The non-payment of teachers' salaries by the Governor Uba Sani-led government has further exacerbated the situation.
Rimi College, formerly known as St. John's College, has issued a directive to staff members residing in government quarters to vacate the premises within three weeks.
This decision comes at a challenging time for Nigeria, as the country grapples with economic difficulties and high inflation rates under the current administration.
The non-payment of teachers' salaries by the Governor Uba Sani-led government has further exacerbated the situation.
A document obtained by SaharaReporters, on Friday, titled "Notices To Vacate Government Quarter For Renovation," dated August 8, 2024, and signed by Principal Mohammad Danlami Ibrahim, states that alternative accommodations will not be provided, and staff members are expected to make their own arrangements.
The letter partly reads: "I am directed to serve this letter to you as a formal notice to vacate the government quarter No:....allocated to you at Rimi College, on or before 3 weeks at the receipt of this letter.
"The quarter is schedule for renovation, and your occupation is hindering the planned work.
"You are required to: Vacate the quarter on or before 3 weeks at the receipt of this letter.
"Remove all personal belongings. Return the keys to the school principal."
It warned that failure to comply with "this notice may lead to legal action against you”.
The teachers were also warned that failure to comply may lead to “forfeiture of any personal property remaining on the premises” and “deduction from your salary or benefit."
It added, "Please note that alternative accommodation will not be provided, and you are requested to make your own arrangement."
Meanwhile, sources have accused Governor Sani to trying to evict the teachers from their quarters so that he will allocate the land and properties to his political cronies.
"Uba Sani is trying to evict teachers while he remains an absentee governor. He is always in Abuja.
“All the roads and infrastructure done by last government are now destroyed. Dirt has returned everywhere in Kaduna,” one of the sources said, adding that “in someone’s words we are not sure we have a governor”.
"Now he does not pay teachers and despite inflation he wants to evict them from their quarters so that he will allocate the lands and properties to his political rats," one of the sources said.
