A bid by the Kogi State government to build an International Airport in Zariagi has been approved.

The Federal Government through the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development gave the approval to the Kogi State government.

Making the disclosure, the state’s commissioner for information and communication, Kingsley Fanwo said the approval was contained in a letter by the ministry dated October 9, 2024.

According to Fanwo, the present administration led by Governor Usman Ododo is committed to a timely completion of the airport.

He also said that the state would adhere strictly to all safety and regulatory standards.

The airport when completed is expected to serve 10 states, reduce the traffic experienced on the Abuja-Lokoja road and boost the state’s economy.

He said, “We thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and the Aviation Minister for the historic approval that will help to further develop Kogi State.

“We want to also say that the Airport will also have capacity for Cargo as that is one of our key focuses in the project.”
