Bruno Fernandes’ Red Card Overturned, Cleared for Upcoming Matches

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has avoided a three-match ban after his red card during the team’s 3-0 loss to Tottenham was overturned.

The Portuguese midfielder was dismissed by referee Chris Kavanagh following a high challenge on James Maddison in Sunday’s match at Old Trafford. However, Fernandes appeared to have slipped before making contact, and Maddison himself acknowledged that the tackle did not warrant a red card.

Manchester United appealed the decision, and the English Football Association (FA) has upheld their claim of wrongful dismissal.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the FA confirmed: “Bruno Fernandes will be available for Manchester United’s next three games following a successful claim of wrongful dismissal.”

This decision allows the 30-year-old to participate in United’s upcoming Premier League fixtures against Aston Villa, Brentford, and West Ham.

Fernandes’ availability comes as a relief for under-pressure manager Erik ten Hag, who is fighting to turn around United’s poor start to the season. The team currently sits 13th in the Premier League, having won only two of their first six matches.
