The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has stepped up the case of the suspended game between the senior national team of Nigeria and that of Libya in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Billed to be played on Tuesday in Benghazi, the game was suspended after the senior national team were left unattended to at the airport 16 hours after arrival from Nigeria for the game. They decided to fly back to base leaving CAF with a decision to make.
CAF in a statement made public referred the matter to their disciplinary committee, which is headed by Senegalese Ousmane Kane. His committee have also been given a time frame to reach a judgement on the case, which many expected will favour Nigeria with Libya likely to be thrown out of the qualifiers with a huge fine.
The judgement will be communicated on the 22nd of October with any party who isn’t satisfied given the room to appeal the decision via the appeal committee of CAF which is headed by a Nigerian in Justice Roli Daibo Harriman.
