Reports now indicate that a former manager at Chelsea is being considered for the role of England head coach as the October 2024 international break continues.

According to reports former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel is leading the race to be appointed as the head coach of England by the English football association.

A popular Bild journalist Christian Falk, former Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel is in discussions for the England national team manager role.

This development follows just a day after interim boss Lee Carsley oversaw a 2-1 defeat to Greece in the Nations League.

While Carsley expressed uncertainty about his future, stating he would "hopefully" return to managing the under-21s, he maintained that the loss to Greece would have "almost no impact" on his chances of securing the senior role permanently.

Tuchel has been previously linked to the England job, a position Gareth Southgate held for nearly eight years.

Whether the Football Association will pursue Tuchel remains uncertain. Amid the speculation surrounding Carsley's future, England is set to continue their Nations League campaign on Sunday, as they face Finland in their fourth match of League B Group 2.
