CNG Vehicle explosion rocks Benin city, injures three

Tragedy struck in Benin City, Edo State, on Thursday morning when a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered vehicle exploded at a NIPCO filling station along the Benin-Auchi Expressway

The blast caused widespread panic, with eyewitnesses describing a loud sound and chaotic scenes as people fled for their lives. Viral footage showed the vehicle severely damaged.

Three people were injured in the incident and rushed to a nearby private hospital for medical attention.

This incident raises concerns about the safety of CNG-powered vehicles, which the Federal Government has promoted as a cost-effective alternative to petrol-powered vehicles.

Authorities must now address safety concerns and ensure proper regulations are in place to prevent future tragedies.
