‘Disrespectful’ – Manchester United legend reacts to Sir Alex Ferguson’s sack

Manchester United’s decision to end Sir Alex Ferguson’s ambassadorial role has drawn sharp criticism from former player Eric Cantona.

INEOS, which recently took over part ownership of the club, has begun restructuring and cutting costs. One of the moves includes terminating Ferguson’s ambassadorial contract, which earned him £2.2 million annually since stepping down as manager in 2013.

Cantona, who was signed by Ferguson from Leeds in 1992, expressed his anger on social media. He called the decision disrespectful and said Ferguson should have the freedom to remain at the club for life.

“Sir Alex Ferguson should be able to do anything he wants at Manchester United until the day he dies,” Cantona posted. “Such a lack of respect. It’s totally scandalous. Sir Alex will always be my boss, and I throw them all in a big bag of sh*t.”

Manchester United’s leadership is reportedly planning for a new direction, with rumours suggesting they are preparing a shortlist to replace current manager Erik ten Hag.
