Ebonyi State governor approves N75,000 minimum wage for Civil Servants

According to Daily Post, the new minimum wage of N75,000 was revealed during a Holy Mass at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki on Sunday.

According to a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, the decision follows a thorough review of the current economic situation in the country and its impact on the workforce.

Governor Nwifuru stated that grade level 2 civil servants will receive the full minimum wage of N75,000, while those from grade level 3 and above will receive an increment of N40,000 across the board.

The new minimum wage will take effect on Monday, October 28, 2024.

In addition to the minimum wage announcement, Governor Nwifuru also appointed General Managers to oversee two major industries in the state. Dr. Obinna Ezenkwa will lead Umuoghara Pulverization Plant, and Barrister Uchenna Otuh will manage Ezzamgbo Pipe Production Factory.

The Governor emphasized that the appointees were chosen for their expertise and ability to drive growth in the industries. He urged them to utilize their skills to benefit the state and called on stakeholders to support the new General Managers.
