The Edo State House of Assembly has approved the nominees put forth by Governor Godwin Obaseki for the State Civil Service Commission.

Naija News reports that the approval comes less than a month before the end of Obaseki’s second tenure as Governor of Edo State.

The lawmakers ratified the five-member nominees during a plenary session held on Monday.

The nominees were presented at the House’s plenary on October 2, 2024, by the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku.

It is worth noting that the administration led by Governor Godwin Obaseki will conclude on November 12, 2024, at which point a new administration headed by Senator Monday Okpebholo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will be inaugurated as the new governor of the state.

The nominees who received confirmation include Iguodala Lalla Aluyi as chairman, along with members Ehi Obaseki, Gilbert Adegboyega, Julie Olatunji, and Margaret Ohiowele.

In addition, the House has enacted a bill to create the Edo State Digital Governance and Data Management Agency.

Edo Guber: Obaseki Dealt With Everyone – Idahosa

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Charles Idahosa, has said there were clear indications that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would not win the Edo state gubernatorial election.

Naija News reports that the former member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) in PDP made this known in an interview with Vanguard, stating that the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, dealt with everyone in the state, including the Oba of Benin.

Idahosa has said that Obaseki’s inability to manage people and his ingratitude cost the PDP the September 21 governorship election in Edo State.

He also dispelled the allegation that the election was rigged, stressing that Obaseki did not see anything wrong in his style of administration.
