The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, cast his vote at Idionrio Primary School, Ward 1, Unit 3, in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State.

Voting began late at the polling unit, starting around 11:45 AM due to the delayed arrival of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Despite INEC’s tardiness, many voters had arrived at the polling station as early as 7:00 AM, awaiting the commencement of accreditation and voting.

Security personnel and journalists were also seen idly waiting for the electoral officials to arrive. One frustrated voter, Christopher Adoghe, expressed his dissatisfaction with the delay, saying, “We’ve been here since 7 AM, but no sign of INEC officials. This is almost 10 AM, and nothing is happening. No accreditation, no voting.”

The governorship elections in Edo State are ongoing, with over 2.2 million permanent voter cards collected for the exercise.
