EFCC Arrests 33 Suspected Internet Fraudster In Rivers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Rivers State has arrested 33 suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys

The EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this on Wednesday in a statement noting that the suspects were arrested in their hideouts during a sting operation in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Oyewale said that the agency’s operative recovered from the suspects, boxes of fake United States Dollars, and fake Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Customs stamps.

Others include various mobile phone devices, laptops, airport clearance stamps, DHL and FedEx stamps and two cars.

“The suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations,” the EFCC said.

Earlier, operatives of the Gombe Zonal Directorate of the agency arrested 21 suspected internet fraudsters in Yola, Adamawa state.

The suspects, according to the agency, were arrested at different locations around Modobo Adamawa University, Yola.

“Items recovered at the points of arrest include 13 iPhones, 12 Android phones, one laptop, and one tablet phone,” he added.
