The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, says operatives from its Sokoto Zonal Directorate on Saturday arrested thirteen(13) suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo Boys,” in Sokoto, Sokoto State.

According to a statement issued by the EFCC Spokesman, Dele Oyewale, the suspected “Yahoo Boys” were arrested in the Gidan Yaro and Dandima areas of the state.

The apprehension, Oyewale added, was based on actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet-related offences.

He noted that all the suspects claimed to be students of the Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto.

The anti-graft agency spokesman added that the suspects would be charged in court upon completion of investigations.

Politics Nigeria earlier reported that operatives of the commission raided private hostels in the university and nabbed multiple students in the process.

The raid was said to have taken place around 4 am.
