Ejuke praises Lamine Yamal despite surpassing him in key stat

Chidera Ejuke bigs up Sevilla ahead of crucial Barcelona tie.

Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke spoke highly of Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal ahead of their face-off against the league leaders this coming Sunday.

LALIGA action returns this weekend, and after a traumatic international break for the Nigerian duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Ejuke, they are back with Sevilla and are set to face the Blaugrana. 

What Ejuke said 

Ahead of the match, the Nigerian star who has been setting LALIGA alight was asked about the prospects of facing Hansi Flick's high-flying side. While he acknowledged Barcelona's quality, he believes Los Nervionenses are able to hand the Blaugrana their first home defeat of the league season. 

“Yes, Barcelona is a great team with a lot of top players as well, but you know, we are Sevilla as well. We just want to go there, give our best, and hopefully come back with the win as well,” he said. 

“I mean, you could say that because at the moment they’re top of the table, but there’s also Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid sometimes. Barca are currently top, so you could say that.”

He was also asked about young Yamal and Ejuke praised the teenager for accomplishing so much relative to his age. 

“About Lamine Yamal? He’s a top player. What he’s doing at his age makes him a top player.”

Ejuke leads the rest of the league 

One of Yamal’s biggest attributes is his dribbling; in fact, only one player in the entire league completes more dribbles per game than the Spanish youngster. 

That player is Nigeria’s Ejuke. The 26-year-old averages 3.5 dribbles per game, and he maintains a dribble completion rate of nearly 70%.
