Barcelona ran riot in the first Clasico meeting of the new season, winning 4-0 against a hapless Real Madrid.

Real Madrid were handed a 4-0 beating at the Bernabeu against eternal rivals Barcelona in this season's first instalment of El Clasico.

This season’s first El Clásico had plenty of drama, with big names like Kylian Mbappe and new Barca boss Hansi Flick adding a new twist to Spain’s fiercest rivalry.

Right from the start, Mbappe looked determined to make his mark, hitting the side netting and setting up Jude Bellingham for a close-range shot that Barça’s Iñaki Peña managed to save. The France captain nearly capitalized on a Pau Cubarsí mistake too, narrowly missing the goal from distance.

Barça had their own chances early on, with teenage superstar Lamine Yamal denied in a one-on-one by Andriy Lunin.

Mbappé thought he’d put Real ahead with a clever chip, but it was ruled offside. Not long after, Lunin had to stretch to save a tricky shot from Pedri, reminding everyone that Barça was still very much in the fight.
