El-Rufai Denies Corruption Allegations, Vows To Swear By Quran

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has strongly refuted allegations of financial misappropriation during his time in office, declaring his willingness to swear by the Quran to prove his innocence.

Speaking during a Hausa program on Freedom Radio in Kaduna on Tuesday, El-Rufai stressed that his entry into politics was motivated by a desire to serve the public, not to enrich himself or embezzle funds.

“I didn’t join politics to steal money or for personal gain. I was content with what I had before becoming governor,” El-Rufai said.

He further emphasized his commitment to honesty and transparency during his tenure. “I’ve always sought divine guidance in my actions, and I strive never to betray the people’s trust. Whenever former Kaduna governors and other leaders are ready to swear by the Quran that they didn’t misappropriate public funds, I will join them. I have no fear because I know I did not take money belonging to the people.”

El-Rufai added that he is leaving the matter in God’s hands and has instructed his lawyers to pursue legal action against those spreading false accusations. For now, he said he is focused on his personal activities, such as reading and writing.

Hinting at his future in politics, El-Rufai revealed that he plans to return to the political arena in 2027 after completing his studies.
