EPL: Arsenal set to expand Emirates Stadium

Arsenal are reportedly in early talks to expand the capacity of the Emirates Stadium, aiming to boost matchday revenue and compete financially with Premier League rivals.

The current capacity of the North London venue stands at 60,000, making it the sixth-largest stadium in England.

However, with increasing demands in the race for Premier League supremacy, Arsenal are exploring options to further increase seating.

The club earned £102.6 million in matchday revenue during the 2022/23 season, a significant rise from £79 million the previous year, largely due to their return to the Champions League.

The figure is expected to exceed £120 million for last season, according to talkSPORT.

In comparison, however, Tottenham Hotspur made £117.6 million in matchday revenue and also benefits from hosting non-football events like NFL games and major concerts.

The Emirates Stadium, opened in 2006, has seen minor expansions, including 780 additional seats in 2018.

If Arsenal succeed in finding a viable way to expand, the move could increase their revenue and boost their competitiveness on and off the field.
