It was a weekend of never of its kind in the Nigeria Premier Football League as the Matchday 3 of the 2024/2025 season saw no teams won their game at home, this and four things make the Matchday 3 tick.

Enjoy another five things to know on the NPFL this week

Perfect Remo Stars

It was a perfect weekend for Remo Stars. They won all their matches in the season as they recorded their first ever victory over Kano Pillars away.

A sweet 2-0 victory over Kano Pillars retained stay on top of the log, scoring 5 goals, and yet to concede any. Their perfection this far out them in the books as the favourite to win the league though it’s early days.

First Hattrick of the season

As part of the drama of Matchday 3, Yusuf Anas scored the first hattrick of the season in the seven goal thriller in Lafia as Nasarawa threw away a two lead to Elkanemi in a thrilling 4-3 away win for the Maiduguri warriors.

Away Weekend

It was a weekend for the away teams, four teams got maximum three points away from home as Rivers United, Elkanemi Warriors, Remo Stars and Niger Tornadoes all picked away wins in just a weekend. It was indeed a weekend made for the away teams.

No Home Win

The home teams could not muster a win at home as all the seven teams either lost or drew their match, this is unprecedented in the Nigeria Premier Football League of recent memories .

Ikorodu City First ever point

The new breed, Ikorodu City FC making their first ever appearance in the NPFL, and lost their opener where they conceded three second half goals away to Kano Pillar but the Ikorodu based team made another trip up North last weekend against Kwara United and returned unscathed as the Oga boys played goalless against the Afonja Warriors.

A good and inspiring result ahead of their first home game against the champions, Enugu Rangers at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan this Wednesday where they will be looking for their historic first ever win in the NPFL.
