Former Head of State, Gowon Denies ‘Stealing Half of Central Bank’

A former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon has been described as the father of Nigeria’s unity.

This description of Gowon was given by the Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger Council of Traditional Rulers, Yahaya Abubakar.

Felicitating Gowon on his 90th birthday, the monarch said the former Head of State has been instrumental in the formulation and implementation of many great policies in Nigeria.

According to the monarch, the initiatives by Gowon have cemented Nigeria’s unity and progress.

“I am elated that God, in His infinite mercy, has kept this elder statesman, Gowon, up to this moment. His wisdom, patriotism and love for Nigeria are unparalleled.

“Gowon has also remained resolute and committed to the Nigerian Project, and has never wavered,” he said.

He also prayed for more longer life and good health for the former Head of State.
