I Don’t Regret Joining Barcelona –Gundogan

Ilkay Gundogan has said he does not regret joining Barcelona despite spending just one season at the La Liga giants.

Gundogan rejoined Manchester City after his contract at Barcelona was terminated by mutual agreement.

The former German international signed a one-year deal with City, with an option to extend the contract by 12 months.

According to ESPN, Gundogan was deemed surplus to requirements by Barça after they signed Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig.

Barça’s precarious financial position meant that they needed to free up space on their wage bill in order to register Olmo to play in LaLiga, hence Gündogan’s exit.

“I don’t regret joining Barça. At the end, I played for one of the biggest teams in the world,” Gundogan was qouted on Fabrizio Romano x handle.

“I fulfilled one of my childhood dreams, playing for Barça and wearing that badge.”

Gundogan is expected to feature for the Premier League champions against Arsenal on Sunday.
