The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed the arrest of crossdresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, also known as Bobrisky, at the Seme Border while attempting to exit the country.

The NIS, in a statement by its spokesman, Kenneth Udo, said Bobrisky is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to relevant authorities for further action.

“In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to Exit the Country.

“The Service wishes to inform the public that OKUNEYE IDRIS is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern. He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate Authorities for further action.

“The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the Country’s Borders,” the statement read.

Earlier, activist Martins Ortse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), disclosed Bobrisky’s arrest while allegedly attempting to flee to Benin Republic.

In a video posted on his Instagram page, VDM alleged that the cross-dresser was trying to evade an investigative hearing by the House of Representatives.

VDM said, “Bobrisky has been arrested this morning at Seme border while trying to enter BENIN REPUBLIC to escape the current investigation by the house of reps, he is allegedly being held by the Nigeria immigration.”

Bobrisky is being investigated in connection with reports that he bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15m to drop charges of money laundering against him.

He was also alleged to have admitted in the video that he did not serve his sentence at the correctional facility and was allowed to stay in a rented apartment after bribing officials at the prison.

The House of Representatives recently summoned him for questioning regarding the allegations.
