itel P65 opens a new chapter for the power-focused itel P Series. Going by the look and design, it seems mobile gaming is the focus of the new series. It comes with the iBoost game engine, which enhances your gaming performance for a decent gaming experience. itel P65 sports a 5000 mAh battery, but may also come with an optional free charging case with a 2400 mAh battery built-in to bring the total battery capacity to 7400 mAh. It supports 18W fast charging with an AI charging feature that will extend your battery life.

Design

itel P65 features a gaming-themed mecha design with a brushed metallic look. The back is a beauty, combining simple lines and rivets. The two ring lights on the back in addition to functioning as the LED flash offer dynamic lighting effects when you are playing games as well as provide light cues when the phone is charging or when you receive a notification.

Similar to the placement in the itel P55 Plus and the itel P55 5G, there are two camera rings housing the two cameras, with the 50MP camera on top and the auxiliary camera on the bottom.

On the right side, you will find the power button, which also doubles as the fingerprint sensor. Also on the right side is the volume control button and a brand-new button that itel calls the FlexButton.

itel P65 features a 6.7-inch display with a punch-hole for the 8-megapixel front camera. The display offers a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate.

Overall, the viewing experience is decent. You can watch movies and play games on this smartphone without much discomfort. itel P65 is getting an upgraded Dynamic Bar that itel calls Dynamic Bar 2.0. The Dynamic Bar around the front camera, which is now a regular feature on the latest itel phones, is getting an upgrade in the P65.

The back is where you will find the two cameras and the two LED ring lights. The main camera is a 50-megapixel camera which should deliver decent photography for the price. You also get a Pro mode, which can put more in your hands if you have the experience to take better photos.

When looking at camera quality, the key is in comparing the smartphone with other affordable Android phones within the same budget, and I would say that this itel phone is at par with other models around the same price range.

Hardware and Software

itel P65 is powered by an Unisoc T615 chipset. The chipset is built on the 12-nanometer technology with an octa-core processor consisting of two cores of Cortex-A75 clocked at up to 1.8GHz and six cores of Cortex-A55 clocked at up to 1.6GHz.

The Android phone runs on Android 14 out of the box with itel OS 14 running on top. You get the iBoost gaming engine for a faster and smoother gaming experience.

itel P65 offers the option of 128GB ROM with 4GB RAM, 128GB ROM with 8GB RAM, and 256GB ROM with 6GB RAM. A dedicated memory card slot is provided for boosting the built-in storage.

You can also expand the RAM using the Memory Fusion feature which allocates a portion of the ROM to be used as virtual RAM. The Memory Fusion features enable you to double the RAM capacity in your model with virtual RAM. This means you can get up to 16GB RAM (8GB physical and 8GB virtual) on the model with 128GB ROM and 8GB RAM for a smoother experience.
