Jehovah RaphaThe LORD Who Heals

Origin: Exodus 15:26

Story: After the Israelites complained about bitter water, God instructed Moses to throw a piece of wood into it, turning it sweet. He declared, “I am the LORD who heals you,” establishing Himself as Jehovah Rapha.

Jehovah Rapha in Our Lives Today

The promise of Jehovah Rapha is not limited to the pages of Scripture—it is available to us today. God still heals, whether it is the physical healing of sickness, the emotional healing of wounds, or the spiritual healing from sin. The same God who healed the waters of Marah is the God who can heal the bitterness in our hearts and the brokenness in our lives.

Here are a few ways we can experience Jehovah Rapha today:

Through Prayer: The Bible encourages us to bring our needs to God in prayer. James 5:14-15 instructs believers to pray for the sick, trusting in God’s ability to heal. When we pray, we are inviting Jehovah Rapha to act in our lives.

Through Faith: Healing requires faith. Jesus often said, "Your faith has made you well" (Mark 5:34). Faith in Jehovah Rapha’s power and willingness to heal is a key part of receiving His healing.

Through Obedience: In Exodus 15:26, God linked healing with obedience, saying that if His people followed His commands, they would experience His healing. Obedience to God’s Word and His ways positions us to receive His healing.

Through the Body of Christ: Sometimes healing comes through the hands of others—doctors, counselors, and fellow believers. Jehovah Rapha can use the community of faith as instruments of His healing power.
