Jose Mourinho bitter over ‘unfair treatment’ by UEFA

Jose Mourinho has voiced frustration with UEFA, claiming he has faced unfair treatment from the organization since the 2023 Europa League final.

Following AS Roma’s loss to Sevilla in a penalty shootout, Mourinho was banned for four matches after a heated confrontation with referee Anthony Taylor.

The Portuguese manager feels this incident that happened during his time with the Italian side, marked the start of his “trouble in Europe.”

“I don’t want special treatment, just honest treatment,” Mourinho told Sky Sports. “If I do something wrong, punish me, but if I don’t, leave me in peace.

“Since that Budapest final, it’s been difficult,” he added.

Now managing Fenerbahce, Mourinho last week, received a straight red card in their Europa League match against Manchester United.

The former United boss called for consistency in how officials handle managers, saying, “It doesn’t matter if you’re Ancelotti or a young coach just starting out. We all should follow the same rules.”
