Kanayo O. Kanayo criticizes excessive police and military checkpoints in S’East

Veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has taken to social media to express his frustration over trdthe excessive number of police and military checkpoints on roads in the South East.

In a video posted on Instagram, Kanayo shared his experience traveling on the Lagos-Ibadan express road, where he encountered no checkpoints.

In contrast, he noted that in the South East, there are military or police checkpoints every 200 meters, where commuters are often “harassed and humiliated.”

He questioned whether this heavy presence of checkpoints was due to “hatred or dislike” for the South East’s indigenes.

“I left Felele Olorunshogo area of Ibadan this morning at about 7:15, and this is exactly 8:15, and I am in Lagos. Over a distance of 80 kilometers, I didn’t see one checkpoint. Have you ever traveled the Onitsha/Enugu express road? Have you counted the number of police or military checkpoints?”

Kanayo pointed out the delays and humiliation people experience on these roads, adding, “Is the South East still part of Nigeria?”
