A new Commissioner of Police has been appointed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Kayode Egbetokun, for the Lagos Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

A statement issued on Thursday by the spokesman of the police, Mr Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that Mr Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale has been deployed to head the Lagos State Command after the approval of the Police Service Commission (PSC).

Also, Mr Egbetokun posted three other Commissioners of Police (CPs) to Abia, Ebonyi, and Akwa-Ibom State Commands.

Mr Danladi Nda has been moved to the Abia State Command, Ms Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya will now be in charge of the Ebonyi State Command, and Mr Festus Eribo has been redeployed to Akwa-Ibom State Command.

In a related development, the police chief in Nigeria has ordered the redeployment of the CP for Rivers State Command, Mr Olatunji Disum to the FCT, while the CP for Delta State Command, Mr Abaniwonda Olufemi, was moved to Rivers State Command, and Mr Peter Opara taken away from the FCT Command to Delta State Command.

According to the statement, the reorganisation was part of an effort to strategically emplace a police force well efficient for effective policing.

It was stated that the action reflects Mr Egbetoken’s mission to strategically reposition the agency and ensure maximum utilisation of human resources available to it.

He urged the officers to ensure diligence in the discharge of their lawful duties and adopt innovations that could mitigate security challenges in their respective areas of responsibility, encouraging them to key into the police reform plans, which will help the progress of the NPF and the growth of the country in general.
