The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has announced plans to hold the 2024 Ibile Youth Academy with a comprehensive month-long series of leadership training activities.

The Commissioner for the Ministry, Mobolaji Ogunlende, made the announcement on Monday at the Alausa Secretariat where he outlined the schedule for the academy to include a Five-Day Divisional Training scheduled for October – November 1, 2024.

In what was contained in a statement signed by the ministry on Tuesday,  Ogunlende added that this would include a One-Day Leadership Seminar with the Governor planned for November 2024.

Earlier in September, the ministry held a week-long awareness exercise about the programme.

“This year’s Ibile Youth Academy will be one of a kind, introducing significant changes to address gaps identified in previous editions. We have lined up diverse leadership training activities to be led by experienced facilitators from various fields, equipping our youth with the skills needed to compete globally. Ultimately, the academy aims to produce leaders with a global outlook,” Ogunlende said.

Supporting his statement, the Permanent Secretary, Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, emphasised that the Ibile Youth Academy aligned with the THEMES Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which prioritises youth empowerment and development.

“Over the years, we have faced leadership challenges at different levels in Nigeria. The Ibile Youth Academy was initiated to address these issues by instilling leadership, citizenship, and volunteerism values in young people. It aims to groom their leadership potential for the benefit of Lagos State and Nigeria,” she stated.
