Libya will step up vs Super Eagles warns Ekong

Super Eagles stand-in captain William Ekong has warned that Libya may be bottom of the group of the 2025 AFCON qualifying group, but they will step up for today’s clash in Uyo.

The Super Eagles top Group D with four points from two matches, while Libya are bottom with a point.

Six years ago, Nigeria trounced Libya 4-0 at home, before they did the double with a 3-2 win in Libya in 2019 qualifiers.

“Libya will step up against Nigeria but we’re ready,” Ekong assured.

“We played them last in 2018, but they will not be the same, just as we are not the same.”

“The spirit in camp is great. We’re very confident and looking forward to the game.

“There should be no too much talking, we should show on the pitch.”

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi said the Super Eagles are gunning for the six points on offer in this double-header against the North Africans.

“We’re ready to take the six points,” he said.

“We will take the game to them.

“We have quality as individuals and as a team.”

Both teams will clash again in Benina Tuesday night to complete this double-header qualifying series.
