N12m CASH found with suspected criminals

Four suspected criminals, have been found in possession of N12 million cash, guns, and marijuana in Oyo state

A woman is said to be among the suspects.

They were arrested by the police in Iwere-Ile, the headquarters of Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State, today.

The Punch reports that the suspects were arrested during a joint operation between members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria and the police.

A credible source within the vigilante group told a Punch correspondent that their suspicious movement prompted the residents to alert the security operatives.

Another source, who preferred anonymity, said the arrest came after a period of surveillance on the suspects who residents of the area alleged to be pretending as charcoal dealers.

“They are pretending as charcoal dealers but kidnapping and related crimes in the community could be traced to them if carefully investigated.

“The suspected criminals were caught in possession of N12 million, guns, and marijuana during a joint operation between members of the VGN and the police,” the source added.

They have been handed over to police at Iwajowa Divisional Police headquarters at Iwere-Ile for further investigation.

When Punch contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, said an investigation had commenced on it
