NASENI Showcases Tech Innovations @ Abuja Trade Fair

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is showcasing its indigenously developed technological products at the 19th Abuja International Trade Fair, which is currently taking place at the Abuja Trade and Convention Centre, Umaru Yar’Adua Way, Airport Road, Abuja.

This year’s participation by NASENI at the annual event, organised by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), serves as a platform to advance the agency’s ‘3Cs’ principle of creation, collaboration and commercialisation. It also offers an opportunity to highlight NASENI’s technological innovations to a wider audience.

NASENI’s stand at the fair features exhibits from all 12 of its Development Institutes, including NASENI Solar Energy Ltd (NSEL), a limited liability company owned by the agency. Among the products and technologies displayed are the NASENI Transformer, NASENI CNG Conversion Centre in Utako, NASENI Solar CCTV, automatic change-over switch, solar kit trainer, science kits, rotary furnace, digital road sign, animal feed machine, science automatic model and several others.

Speaking at the NASENI Day event at the fair, director of information, new media and protocol, Mr. Olusegun Ayeoyenikan representing the executive vice-chairman of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, emphasised the agency’s commitment to showcasing its numerous products and technologies.

He noted that NASENI’s innovations are designed to drive Nigeria’s economic transformation in line with the agency’s mandate and the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda of President Bola Tinubu, who serves as the chairman of NASENI’s governing board.

“The purpose of this event is to promote NASENI’s technologies and products, along with its research institutes nationwide. It also serves as a platform for advertising NASENI’s innovations to the world. The general objectives of our participation are to create more awareness about NASENI’s brand and increase patronage for the agency,” Ayeoyenikan said.

He also highlighted NASENI’s past successes at the fair, stating, “During our previous participation, we exhibited research products and innovations to stakeholders, SMEs, and the general public. We won several awards and secured engagements with stakeholders and technology end-users, which demonstrate that NASENI has carved out a niche for itself at this important event.”

NASENI, according to Ayeoyenikan, is the only agency in Nigeria specifically mandated by the Federal Government to conduct research and development (R&D), production, reverse engineering and manufacturing in the areas of capital goods, machines, spares, and equipment. These efforts are aimed at ensuring that the Nigerian economy can develop home-grown capacities for genuine industrialisation and sustainable development.

Under the leadership of Halilu as executive vice-chairman, Ayeoyenikan said NASENI has made significant strides in fostering innovation and accelerating the transfer and domestication of technologies. “NASENI has been transformed for better service delivery, with more focus on accelerated technology transfers. This has led to the achievement of several products and technologies, which are being handed over to SMEs and other end-users.”

The deputy director of information at NASENI, Chima Akwaja, also issued a statement highlighting that this year’s theme, “Mobility: Options for Transportation, Trade Finance and Transportation,” features more than 500 exhibitors showcasing over 10,000 products, solutions and services to more than 100,000 participants and visitors.
