Nigeria’s duo, Adegoke Muizz and AbdulFatai AbdulBasit claimed the men’s doubles title at the 2024 ITTF-Africa Senior Championships, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The pair triumphed over fellow Nigerians Olajide Omotayo and Kuti Matthew, securing Nigeria’s second gold medal of the tournament.

In the men’s singles final, Egypt’s Omar Assar reclaimed his crown, defeating compatriot Abdel Aziz Youssef with a 4-2 victory (9-11, 10-9, 11-7, 11-11, 8-2, 11-6).

Assar last won the title in 2021.

Meanwhile, in the women’s singles final, 16-year-old Egyptian star Hana Goda successfully defended her title, overcoming Mariam Alhodaby in a thrilling seven-game match.

Goda secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory, cementing her dominance in African table tennis.

The championships saw top African players compete for honors in a highly competitive atmosphere.
