Nigeria Commends German Government For Support On Economic Reforms

Nigeria has expressed satisfaction with the German Government for supporting the economic reforms of the present administration and thus called on other countries to do same.

The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu who stated this in Abuja, also welcomed the Dual Training or Apprenticeship Programme of the Chambers of commerce and Industry (CCI) Geissen-Friedberg, Germany as he noted that there cannot be a better time for this, as it would support the social investment programme and economic reforms of the government.

According to the Minister, “Germany is the bedrock of the European Union, as Nigeria is the Bedrock of ECOWAS”, Germany, he continued, is one of the success stories in Nigeria in the provision of Aluminum, Construction, Pharmaceuticals, machinery and equipment manufacturing expertise.
On the issue of legal migration, the Minister noted that a migration agreement was signed between both countries some time ago, to enable Nigerian youth migrate out of choice and be global citizens who will shun criminal conducts in their host countries.

Bagudu noted that one of the mandates of the Ministry entailed the management of bilateral economic cooperation, which included development aids and technical assistance programmes stating that the Ministry was willing to operate in any shape or form to achieve this with Germany.

He said the risks taken by the President Ahmed Tinubu led government was to make the country work well.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Geissen-Friedberg Dr. Matthias Leder, noted that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen the cooperation and partnership between the German and the Nigerian Chambers of Industries, introduce the Dual Vocational Training or Apprenticeship programme established by Germany which is in operation in Ogun State for more Nigerians to take advantage of, and also invite the Honourable Minister to the Business to Business meeting which will take place in Munich, Germany sometime in 2025.

The Dual Vocational Training or Apprenticeship is the most popular form of post compulsory education in Germany as half of school leavers find their way to dual vocational training programmes.

It entails theoretical instruction in the classroom and practical on-the-job work experience in the company providing training need skilled foreign workforce to replace its retiring baby boomer generation.

The German authorities have relaxed its immigration rules for European Union/European Free Trade Association (EU/EFTA) citizens.

The delegation from CCI Germany included Mrs. Matina Leder, and Norbert Noisser, while the National Vice President Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye, accompanied them on the visit.
