Nollywood actor cum film producer, Kunle Afolayan, has announced the death of his mother, Omoladun Afolayan.

Naija News reports that the movie star, in a post via his Instagram page, said his mother died at the age of 81.

While sharing memories of his late mother, including photos of her with her grandchildren, Kunle Afolayan added that it is hard to accept the demise of his mother.

He wrote, “It is hard to accept but she surely lived a good life👼 Our mother, Maami Omoladun Ayanladun Afolayan, has gone to rest. (1943-2024).

“She is survived by children and grandchildren. Please keep us in your prayers. Omo re a gbeyin gbogbo wa.”

Kunle’s brother, actor Gabriel Afolayan, also mourned their mother, saying, “Home is not cool. We lost a very dear one. You’d be greatly missed, big mummy (Iya Oyo). We all love you to bits. I will miss my gist and dance partner. Rest on #maami. Big love to my sibs #kunleafo #aremumimostwantedlikecrudeoil.”

Meanwhile, Kunle Afolayan has announced that Netflix has approved another season of Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre.

Naija News reports that the filmmaker made this known on his Instagram page, revealing an impressive lineup of actors set to join the upcoming season of the award-winning series.

Kunle Afolayan also unveiled new cast members, including former Big Brother Naija housemate, Okusaga Adeoluwa, who is making his Netflix debut, along with content creators Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, better known as Kiki, and Mr. Macaroni.

Ghanaian actress, Fella Makafui, former Big Brother Africa housemate, Tayo Faniran, and several Nollywood veterans like Saidi Balogun, Jide Awobona, Joke Muyiwa, Salami, Oyewole Abija, Rotimi Salami, and Antar Laniyan are also featured.

Other notable additions include Portuguese actors, Pedro Teixeira and Hugo Nicolau and rising talents like TikTok sensation Tiago Ishola (Oyiboibile), Shushu Abubakar and Adejoke Adeyooba.
