The Abia State Police Command in collaboration with local guards from Seriki Hausa has successfully recovered 56 out of the 65 cattle that went missing following an attack by unidentified assailants at the Lokpanta cattle market in Umunneochi LGA and Eziama Nunya community in Isuikwuato LGA.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, made this known in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Maureen Chinaka on Saturday evening. The statement confirmed that the assailants had reportedly attacked the area, injuring one person which lead to the disappearance of 65 cattle .

“To expedite justice, the Command, in collaboration with local guards from Seriki Hausa, has successfully recovered 56 of the missing cattle. Intensive operations are in progress to track down the remaining cattle and apprehend the assailants,” the statement read.

During a visit by the commissioner and his entourage to the affected areas for an on-the-spot assessment, CP Isa extended his sympathies to the community and reassured them of the police’s commitment to apprehending those responsible. He urged residents to remain calm, avoid taking the law into their own hands, and cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.

He reassured that efforts are still ongoing to recover the remaining nine cattle and ensure justice for the victims of the attack.
