President Tinubu appoints Olufemi Oluyede acting Chief of Army Staff

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced Wednesday that President Bola Tinubu has appointed Major General Olufemi Oluyede as Acting Chief of Army Staff

Oluyede assumes the role temporarily, replacing Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, who is abroad for medical treatment.

With over three decades of military experience, Oluyede has held various key positions, including Commander of the Infantry Corps in Jaji, Kaduna, Platoon Commander, Company Commander, Staff Officer, and Commandant of the Amphibious Training School.

During his illustrious career, Oluyede participated in several notable operations, including the ECOMOG Mission in Liberia, Operation HARMONY IV in Bakassi, and Operation HADIN KAI in the Northeast.

Oluyede’s dedication has earned him several honors, including the Corps Medal of Honour, Grand Service Star, recognition for passing the Staff Course, and membership in the National Institute.
