President Bola Tinubu announced the scrapping of the Ministry of Sports Development after the meeting of the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday, 23 October 2024 in Abuja.

The information is contained in a letter from the presidency under the heading : Statements on the structuring of the federal ministry and ministerial portfolios.

This is a significant reshuffle, the Federal Government has replaced Nigeria’s Ministry of Sports Development with the reestablished National Sports Commission (NSC), marking a pivotal shift in sports governance.

President Bola Tinubu, in an official statement on Wednesday, confirmed the restructuring of the ministry into the NSC, thanking the outgoing members of the Federal Executive Council for their service.
