In a response to a post by model and musician Shaun Ross, who discussed his experience with long COVID-19, Singer Solange Knowles offered her support.

She wrote, “Sending u so much love and strength Shaun and to all in the comments struggling with the debilitating, confusing, and lonely symptoms of POTS!”

She continued, “I got diagnosed with POTS, Sjogrens and MCAS in 2018 and really relate to not wanting your health to be your identity. The good folks at [Dysautonomia International] were really an incredible resource for me, and I feel really grateful for the spoonie community for holding me down during my times of complete uncertainty! Sending an abundance of love your way!”

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, or POTS, is a condition that causes an unusually rapid heart rate upon standing. Solange Knowles’s other diagnosis, Sjögren’s syndrome, is an autoimmune disorder that affects moisture-producing glands, leading to symptoms like dry eyes and mouth. MCAS, or Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, results in recurrent allergic reactions affecting multiple body systems, including skin, heart, and respiratory functions.

With this revelation, Singer Solange Knowles has drawn attention to these lesser-known conditions, offering insight into the daily battles she and many others face.
