“There’ll be nationwide thunderstorms for 3 days”, NiMet issues strong warning Nigerians

Nigerians have been warned that there would thunderstorms and rains across the nation for three days starting from Monday, September 23, to Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

This warning was issued to citizens by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) on Monday.

NiMet in a statement said the outlook forecast morning thunderstorms on Monday in some parts of Sokoto, Kebbi and Borno States.

It also noted that other parts like in Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Taraba, Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto States would have thunderstorms later in the day.

Also in places like the FCT, Niger, Nasarawa, Benue, Plateau and Kwara states, thunderstorms will be experienced in the morning hours.

The same predictions go for several states across the nation.

In addition, citizens have been warned to stay away from flood-prone areas and states and adhere to safety measures and guidelines made available by the government.

“Residents are advised to stay informed through weather updates from NiMet. Visit our website, www.nimet.gov.ng,” the statement added.
