Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen has praised the home-based Eagles for the quality they have displayed in their first set of training sessions, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nigeria will take on Ghana in the CHAN qualifiers next month, and preparations have begun in earnest.
Recall that the CHAN is a competition for African players plying their trades in their countries. Hence, coach Eguavoen called up 35 players to the Abuja camp in order to pick the best.
The team had their first training session on Wednesday in Abuja, and Eguavoen, who doubles as Super Eagles coach, has stated that he has been impressive with what he has seen in training so far.
“Very impressive, only two training sessions, but you can see that technically they are very good,” Eguavoen said, per NFF TV.
“We still have a lot of work to do because they are coming from different clubs. We have to try to see how we can blend them into one unit.”
Nigeria will trade tackles with Ghana in the first leg of their CHAN Qualifiers between 20th-22nd December, 2024. Then, the return leg will hold in Nigeria a week later.
The winner over two legs will automatically qualify for the 2025 CHAN which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
