The Thomas Jefferson Scholarship Program offers a unique opportunity for full-time undergraduate students from Tunisia to study in the United States for one academic year. Funded by the United States Department of State and implemented by IREX, the program aims to foster economic growth, stability, and democratic development in Tunisia. By providing access to academic opportunities, professional engagement, and leadership development, the TJSP equips a network of youth with essential skills to drive positive change in their communities and professional fields.

Who can Apply For The Thomas Jefferson Scholarship 2025/26 Program?

Furthermore, the eligibility criteria include:

  • Be a Tunisian citizen and currently reside in Tunisia.
  • Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing at a registered academic institution in Tunisia, specifically in their second year or above. Students in their first year or final year are not eligible.
  • Be able to receive a U.S. J-1 visa.
  • Be at least 18 years old by July 1, 2025.
  • Commit to returning to Tunisia for two years after completing the program, as per J-1 visa regulations.
  • Achieve a minimum Duolingo English Test (DET) score of 100.
  • Complete the academic year prior to studying in the United States with a passing average.
