Tinubu Confers National Honours On Akpabio, Kekere-ekun, Abbas, Others

President Bola Tinubu has announced conferment of National Honours on Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, newly sworn in Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Kudirat Kekere-ekun, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas and other Nigerians in high offices.

The honours were instituted by the National Honors Act No. 5 of 1964, to honour Nigerians who distinguish themselves in their various endeavours and render services to the growth and benefit of the nation.

The president announced the honours on Tuesday during his independence day speech to the nation.

He said the Senate President and the Chief Justice of the Federation Justice Kudirat Kekere-ekun have been conferred with the honour of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).

Kekere-ekun was sworn in on Monday as the 23rd substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

Also the deputy Senate President, Barau Jubrin, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives will be conferred with the honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR).

The deputy speaker of the House, Benjamin Kalu will be awarded Commander of the Order of Niger (CON).
