“Train your daughters not to depend on men” – Simi with a word of advise for parents

Nigerian singer Simi is dishing out some serious words of advise in her recent video, and it’s with regards to parenting the girl child.

Simi advised parents to teach the girl child not to be dependent on men, but instead, they should nurture them to be self sufficient.

She frowned deeply at the notion of some parents telling their daughters that when they grow up, they’ll find someone to take care of them.

Simi further emphasized on the fact that it is important that as a lady, you would also have something to offer, so that when you meet a generous person, you can also reciprocate their generosity.

Going forward, Simi said that she’s aware of the fact that she’s speaking from a place of privilege because growing up, she had a lot of love and support from people around her.

Simi also said that she knows that some women aren’t granted the same grace that she was extended in life, so the society should take note to be kind to women, and that if they see opportunities that women qualify for, they shouldn’t hesitate to give them.
